Detection of small molecules with nanopores

Project 1

Nanopores are tunnel-like membrane proteins that can detect other proteins and small molecules. In contrast to conventional methods, this method is highly sensitive for single molecules. Nanopore detection can be done continuously, in real-time, therefore it is promising technique to be developed into a device for personalized healthcare.

In this project, the interaction between a small molecule and its adaptor in the nanopore will be studied. The resolution of data can be optimized by engineering the adaptor or the nanopore, and then quantification can be done and unknown, biological samples can be tested.
